Tech TipGetting ready for X3.

With the upcoming release of Mastercam X3 it is a good time to back up your critical Mastercam data.  Below is a list of default locations for your critical files that you should back up and a list of folder locations that you can alternatively back up.  As always, if you have questions, give us a call or send e-mail. We’ll be happy to help.

File Extension File Description

Default File Location

.MCX Mastercam Part File C:\McamX\mcx
.CONTROL Machine Control File C:\McamX\cnc_machines
.MMD Mill Machine Definition C:\McamX\cnc_machines
.LMD Lathe Machine Definition C:\McamX\cnc_machines
.RMD Router Machine Definition C:\McamX\cnc_machines
.WMD Wire Machine Definition C:\McamX\cnc_machines
.PST Post Processor

.MTB Mastercam Toolbar File C:\McamX\config
.KMP Mastercam Key Map File C:\McamX\config
.ACC Access Code File C:\McamX\

Or, instead of backing up individual files, you may back up folders that contain the critical files. The folders that should be backed up are circled in red. For example, if you were using only Mill, you would not need to back up Design, Lathe, Router or Wire.

Mastercam Training

We provide state-of-the-art training on the Mastercam system and teach you how to quickly apply Mastercam skills on the job. It is particularly useful for programmers and machinists. For experienced Mastercam users, refresher classes can bring awareness to newly released Mastercam features, and provide greater utilization of your Mastercam system.

Hands on Mastercam training classes at CAD/CAM Solutions are offered on a monthly basis to a limited class size to maximize the amount of material covered and to individualize student’s needs.  We use a projection system so every one in the class can see and follow along with the instructor.

Registration: Please call 770-982-3400 for registration.

Agenda: Arrive at 8:00 am to meet the instructor over coffee and settle in. Class begins promptly at 8:30am . Each class consists of practical exercises and projects. Every 2-3 hours breaks are taken. Lunch is provided at a local restaurant.  Classes finish up around 5:00pm .  The Mastercam Solids class adjourns at Noon .

Location: Our offices are approximately 20 miles east of Atlanta off US Highway 78. Map and directions can be found here.

Cost: The cost is $250.00 per day, per student. Payment is due on or before the first day of training class. Purchase orders may be faxed to 770-982-3366.

Classes Offered:

2D Mill Training Class (2 days) is intended for new Mastercam users and covers all aspects of operation, 2D geometry construction, dimensioning, tool libraries, 2-1/2 axis machining functions, customization and verification.
