Tech TipFind Overlapping Entities with the FindOverlap C-Hook.

Use the FindOverlap.dll C-Hook to find, display and clean up overlapping lines and arcs. Overlapping entities can interfere with chaining, and are often difficult to see and delete.

After starting the C-Hook (Alt+C), Mastercam prompts for the entities to check. The General Selection ribbon bar will be active to help you select them. (Typically, window chaining provides the easiest and best results.) Press [Enter] after selecting all the entities.

Use the First, Last, Previous, and Next buttons to cycle through the list of overlapping entities. Mastercam highlights each entity in turn so you can see it easily.

When you are done previewing the entities, click Cleanup. In each set of overlapping entities, Mastercam deletes all the entities except the longest one.

Tip: Repaint the screen after running the C-Hook to make sure it has produced the desired results.

We provide state-of-the-art training on the Mastercam system and teach you how to quickly apply Mastercam skills on the job. It is particularly useful for programmers and machinists. For experienced Mastercam users, refresher classes can bring awareness to newly released Mastercam features, and provide greater utilization of your Mastercam system.

Hands on Mastercam training classes at CAD/CAM Solutions are offered on a monthly basis to a limited class size to maximize the amount of material covered and to individualize student’s needs.  We use a projection system so every one in the class can see and follow along with the instructor.
